Jeff W., Diana, Jeff F. and Victoria are greeted by Bruce, Robert, and Adrian
We gathered together once again as Rotarians and friends at the Cliff House where President Tom called the meeting to order at 12:15 and lead us in the pledge of allegiance.  Greg Lane gave the invocation.
There were several visiting Rotarians in attendance today including Stacey Fifield from the Indio Noon Club who invited all La Quinta Rotarians to come out and Bowl at their upcoming fundraiser.  Interested members should contact Super Bowler Howard Silverman, captain of the La Quinta Bowling Team.
Other visiting Rotarians included Bob Lovely from Washington, Mark Wood from Oregon.
Our guests included Penny Lilly and Kevin Pickett who was to be inducted as a new member this day.
President Tom made the following announcements:
The next Board meeting will be held at President Tom’s office on November 16th starting at 5:30 PM.  Tom’s office is located off of Country Club west of Washington at 77530 Enfield Ln, Palm Desert, CA 92211.  Call Kathy at (760) 779-5800 if you get lost.
The Holiday Party this year will be held on December 10 at the home of Bruce and Kristy Franklin.  More details to follow in the coming meetings.
Our Strut Your Mutt will be adding a Chili Cook-Off Competition at this year’s event to take place on February 11, 2017.  More details to follow in the coming months.
Ed Casey is still in the Carlotta (room 328) and could use some company!  Please visit if you can.  The address is 41505 Carlotta Dr., Palm Desert, CA 92211.
Victoria returned from the campaign trail and passed the Joke of the Week off to Bruce Cathcart… something about an engineer complaining about 4 blind firemen who played golf during the day… instead of at night.
Our raffle was worth well over $400.00 today and our newest Rotarian Cliff Weaver drew the white marble to win only $5.00 of it!
Bruce Cathcart, accompanied by Kevin Pickett stood at the podium for the induction of Kevin into our club.  Since we did two inductions last week while Kevin was present, and since Kevin was a past Rotarian, Bruce did an abbreviated ceremony that seemed to meet with everyone’s approval.  The club members and visiting Rotarians rose to their feet and applauding, welcomed our newest member to the Rotary Club of La Quinta.  I am sure that everyone will do their best at future meetings to get to know Kevin and make him feel welcome.
Our Fine Master Allan Levin stepped to the podium and immediately auctioned off the Fine Free badge that was scooped up by Diane Kelly for a paltry $40.00!  Notable fines included Jeff Wattenbarger for both his birthday and anniversary to his wife Mary, Baird for his wife Lauren’s new car, Robert Wilkinson for a mistimed phone call, several college football happy dollars and of course, Dave Turner for being just a tad tardy.
Our speaker this day was Patrick Chyhte from the Coachella Valley Paintball Park.  Patrick is originally from Czechoslovakia and along with his wife and 6 kids are living the dream of owning and operating their own business right here in the Coachella Valley.  At the park are three fields in which paintball competitions can take place plus a BBQ area for picnics.  They furnish all the gear for $45.00 and then you buy your ammo for $12 for 200 rounds.  In Patrick’s words, “it is CRAZY FUN”.  The park is located next to Spotlight 29 and the 10 freeway on Indian Reservation land.  To learn more about the Coachella Valley Paintball Pak LLC check out their Facebook page under the same name.  Thank you Patrick for a CRAZY FUN presentation!
At 1:30 President Tom called the meeting to a close with the Four Way Test.
