Robert Wilkinson, Club President, called the meeting to order. Ben Hofheimer led the group in the flag salute and Dick Anderson presented the invocation with words of wisdom.

Visiting Rotarians and their guests were from Bellvue, Washington, Flint, Michigan and Thousand Oaks, Ca. Guests of our Rotarians included McGee Grigsby from Potomac, MD (Andy Lorenz) and Brett, a lawyer from Palm Springs (Bob Wright). Also present was our speaker, John Benoit and his assistant Darin Schemmer.


Announcements included:

Corry Hunter discussed needs for truck and trailer for the Tour de Palm Springs.

There will be a parking lot sale on December 15th in front of Lumpy's near Washington and Highway 111.

There is a past-president's meeting on Tuesday, November 13th, 5:30pm, at the Cliff House.

The Board meets on Wednesday, November 14th, 5:30pm, at Lee Osborne's CPA office.

There will be Bell Ringing again for the Salvation Army in from of Trader Joe's, Lothar will have a sign-up sheet available shortly.

The City of La Quinta will honor Veteran's at 11am this Sunday, November 11th in the park next to City Hall.

President Robert congratulated all of the participants in the recent La Quinta elections.

Joe LaMantia announced that November is Foundation Month for making a pledge to the Rotary Foundation. It's a simple procedure and pledges can by paid monthly or in one lump sum directly from your checking account.

A white ball was drawn by Dick Grund resulting in $5.

Allan Levin recognized the following for various offenses including tardiness, birthdays, anniversaries, new cars, strange introductions and welcome backs...Lee Osborne, Jennifer Donais, Andy Lorenz, LeRoy Anderson, Merv Kolb, Helen Anderson, Ben Hofheimer, Tom McDermott, Don Adolph, Brent (Bob Wright's guest), Dick Grund, Bruce Underwood, Greg Lane, Robert Wright. The fines were going so fast that this reporter lost track.  Another job well done by Allan.


Our guest speaker was county supervisor, John Benoit. John has been a Rotarian since 1988 and served as president of the Indio Club.  He was sponsored for Rotary by our own member, Dick Jandt. John, a three time Paul Harris fellow, discussed the recent election, Riverside County ballot counting, property taxes, retirement plans,the Salton Sea, prisoner housing, new airline service by Virgin America, power plant and health care.
